The Repair Academy

About us

Built in a garage. Teaching worldwide.

The Repair Academy was founded in France in 2019 and has trained more than 750 students worldwide. It now teaches board-level micro-soldering in the United States, at iFixit HQ in Chattanooga.

Our story

From a garage to 750+ students.

The Repair Academy started in 2019 in France with one idea: make serious board-level repair training accessible and practical. Since then, we have trained more than 750+ students worldwide.

Our U.S. program runs at iFixit HQ in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in partnership with iFixit (new tab) and The Art of Repair, the company of Justin Ashford. Alexandre Isaac and David Lecomte teach alongside Justin.

Where

iFixit HQ, Chattanooga.

Train at the renovated iFixit warehouse in Onion Bottom, with microscopes, soldering stations and thermal cameras. You do not need to bring a thing, and you meet technicians from around the country.

How we teach

Hands-on, at the bench.

Diagnose like a technician

Schematics, boot lines and multimeters: you learn to speak the language of logic boards.

Micro-soldering without the guesswork

Touch, charge, audio, baseband, no power: you solder it all, clean and fast.

Restore what others replace

Revive a board instead of tossing it, and understand the systems inside, not only how to swap the parts outside.

Real tools, real conditions

Microscopes, soldering stations, thermal cameras and rework stations, with instructors who do this every day.
